Abstract

Goal: To teach students about the importance of history by having them document the African American history of their own community.

Objective: At the end of this unit, the student will be able to:

* Discuss the origins of Black History Month

* Identify Carter G. Woodson and WEB Dubois

* Attend one local event dedicated to Black History Month
