Four honorary degrees were granted during the 1951 Commencement to the following: Rev. Henry O'Brien, D.D., the bishop of the Harford diocese; Rev. William R. Arnold, D.D., titular bishop of Phocaea and military delegate; Rev. John J. McEleney, S.J., D.D., titular bishop of Zeugma and vicar apostolic of Jamaica, B.W.I.; and U.S. Attorney General J. Howard McGrath.
