Keynote Address: Dadaab: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

Larry Hollingworth is the Humanitarian Programs Director for the Center for International Health and Cooperation (CIHC) as well as Visiting Professor of Humanitarian Studies at the Institute of International Humanitarian Affairs of Fordham University in New York. Over the past few years, he has served as Humanitarian Coordinator on CIHC-sponsored missions for the United Nations in Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine, and Pakistan. After serving as a British Army officer for thirty years, Larry joined UNHCR and held assignments in Sudan, Ethiopia and Eritrea. He was appointed UNHCR Chief of Operations in Sarajevo, during the siege of the city in the Balkan conflict. He is a frequent lecturer on relief and refugee topics in universities and is a commentator on humanitarian issues for the BBC.

Performance by the World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra: The World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra is an ensemble of young musicians (ages 10-17) from Manhattan's most prestigious music programs including The Juilliard School and Manhattan School of Music. The ensemble has performed at the United Nations and other celebrated venues in the greater New York area. In 2011, the ensemble made their international debut in Madrid, Spain.

The musicians of the World Youth Alliance Chamber Orchestra serve as cultural ambassadors for the World Youth Alliance (WYA), an international NGO founded by Anna Halpine in 1999. WYA's mission is to promote the dignity of the person through education, advocacy, and cultural programs. It is a membership organization for young people ages 10-30, with regional offices in Nairobi, Manilla, Mexico City, Brussels, and NY City. For more information, visit www.wya.net.

The director of the WYA Chamber Orchestra is Alexis Kende, World Youth Alliance's Director of Cultural Programs. This evening, representative members from the full ensemble will perform.
