For those who would like to join, Father Richard Ryscavage will be celebrating Catholic Mass in the Chapel, 42 Bellarmine Hall.
Father. Richard Ryscavage, S.J., is a nationally known expert on immigration and refugees. He is Director of the Center for Faith and Public Life and Professor of Sociology at Fairfield University. Fr. Ryscavage was Executive Director of the United States Catholic Bishops Office for Migration and Refugee Services in Washington, D.C., where he was responsible for advising the national bishops on all aspects of immigration. As head of the Jesuit Refugee Service USA, he set up the first program to provide multi-denominational religious services for immigrants detained by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. In 2006 the Vatican invited him to join the Holy See’s delegation to the 61st UN General Assembly, where he participated as an advisor for the Secretary General’s UN High Level Dialogue on Migration.
