A shelf list is a set of catalog cards of a library‚Äôs holdings that is organized by call number (the same way the materials are displayed on the shelf). The shelf list was generally used by staff for collection control rather than as an access tool, although browsing the list provided access similar to browsing the shelves. Image date is approximate.
