Abstract

Julie Mughal, Assistant Director of the Center for Faith and Public Life and JUHAN Coordinator at Fairfield University, describes the resources available in the JUHAN Toolkit: Phase I. This Toolkit was finished In December 2012 as the product of the first Teagle Foundation grant that Fairfield received in partnership with Fordham University and Georgetown University. The objective of the toolkit is to better articulate and measure student learning in the context of humanitarian coursework and co-curricular engagement.

The toolkit has four tools for measuring student learning:

1. Rubric with defined rubric traits

2. A vignette

3. A course survey

4. Prompts for engaging students in reflecting on their service experience
