Handwritten note from John Henry Newman to unnamed Sister in Christ promising to remember her intentions at Mass.
Notes
John Henry Newman was born in February 1801 and died in August 1890. Originally ordained a priest in the Church of England, Newman was an early leader of the Oxford Movement. He converted to Catholicism in 1845 and soon became a Catholic priest. He was made a Cardinal by Pope Leo XII in 1879. His writings on the importance of ministering to Catholic students at non-Catholic universities have inspired the creation of Newman centers all over the world. Newman was beatified by Pope Benedict in September 2010. His feast day is October 9th.
