Abstract
The education of those in the librarian profession -- ensuring that they have the knowledge, skill sets and experience needed to perform required duties -- is an issue on which there has never been complete agreement, either inside or outside the academic arena. Special Libraries Association's (SLA) chapters and divisions offer continuing education programs for members, and the association has adopted new technologies to provide learning opportunities for SLA members. Pre-conference courses in change management, executive communication, financial analysis, digital repository creation, contract management, developing social media channels, maximizing taxonomies to create organizational ontologies, and measuring the impact on the organization are among the many continuing education opportunities being offered in Chicago to enhance your personal contributions to organizational success.
