Cabestrero, an activist priest-journalist based in Nicaragua, listened to the testimony of more than 60 Nicaraguan civilians, all victims of kidnappings, violent ambushes, rapes, and other assaults by the soldiers of the National Democratic Force (FDN), or Contras. Blood of the Innocent is a sequel to the author's earlier book on three priests who serve as officials in the revolutionary government, Ministers of God, Ministers of the People.
