Description
Charles Busch is an American playwright, drag performer, and cabaret chanteuse based in New York City. In the early 1980s, Busch established himself as part of the East Village renaissance with his troupe Theatre in Limbo, which rose to fame with its queer repertory including the plays Vampire Lesbians of Sodom (1984) and Psycho Beach Party (1987). Busch was among the first downtown queer artists to make the transition to Broadway with his play The Tale of the Allergist’s Wife (2000), which received Tony and Drama Desk nominations and won an Outer Critics Circle Award.
