Description
Handwritten record of day-to-day events by the Father Rector/President of Fairfield College Preparatory School and Fairfield University. [Please note: this is Volume I of II; however, Volume II is missing from the collection.]
Notes
Fairfield Prep and Fairfield University share a campus and a common history, much like two branches of the same tree. The Fairfield College of St. Robert Bellarmine was founded by the Society of Jesus on March 17, 1942. Classes for the Fairfield College and Preparatory School began in September 1942; Fairfield University of St. Robert Bellarmine, Inc., was officially chartered in 1945, and the first college freshman entered Fairfield University in 1947, becoming the first graduating class in 1951. During this early history of the school, the head of the prep school and university were one and the same person.
