Abstract
A commentary on an article by Helen Anderson that appeared on pp. 103–111 of this issue is presented. In the article, Anderson drew on a critique of place-based education by Caludia Ruitenberg to examine how discourses about the concepts of home and family contributed to the development and maintenance of systems of oppression. Although the writer says that Anderson's argument could be developed further, she commends Anderson for her valuable contribution to current debates in place-based education.
