Notes
The College of Arts and Sciences was established in 1947, when Fairfield University opened for classes. The annual Arts and Sciences Awards Competition was administered through the Dean’s office and was open to all undergraduate students. A committee comprised of professors from each of the disciplines selected winners in the following categories: Humanities, Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Visual & Expressive Arts. The competition was announced in the fall semester with the deadline for submissions set in the spring. Winners received their awards at the annual Arts and Science Awards ceremony. In addition to the annual ceremony, the winners’ names, regardless of year of graduation, were listed in the commencement program for the year they won. Each commencement program contains a complete list of awards given by the College of Arts and Sciences for that year.
