Description
The Records of the Sports Division/Athletics Department consist of various media guides, game programs, prospectuses, and miscellaneous print material from various varsity, intramural, and club sports on campus. Over half the material pertains to men’s and women’s varsity basketball. Coverage of other teams is fairly limited, except for a set of materials on the 50th anniversary of the Fairfield University Rugby Club in 2013.

Most of these records were extant in the University Archives as of 2003. Additional material has been submitted from various sources, including the Alumni Office, the Rugby Club, as well as acquired purchases.

Notes
As of 2024, Fairfield sponsors men’s teams in baseball, basketball, cross country, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, swimming & diving, and tennis, with women’s teams in basketball, cross country, field hockey, golf, lacrosse, rowing, soccer, swimming & diving, tennis, and volleyball. Most programs belong to the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) and are classified as Division I-AAA in the National Collegiate Athletic Association. Fairfield Athletics also sponsors cheer and dance teams. Numerous club sports and an intramural program are available as well.
